Celia Audio Books

Celia borrows textbooks to all print disabled university students, who find it difficult to read printed text. Books that can be borrowed are either talking books or hybrid books. A hybrid book contains a printed text of a book in electronic form, read aloud with a synthetic computer voice.

Celia’s study materials can be used by all students studying in Finland who are unable to read printed books. If you are a print-disabled person, you can contact our library by e-mail, by phone or by visiting:

Listening e-books and e-journals

Screen readers

  • ADE (Adobe digital editions) reader works with screen readers. With ADE reader you can read eg. Ellibs, Ebook Central and Ebsco eBooks.
  • NVDA screen reader can be downloaded free of charge by anyone.

Listening PDFs

  • You can convert your document into an alternative, accessible format with RoboBraille free of charge. 

Listening in Word Online / O365

  • You can listen to the text you have written in Word Online. The reading program also includes audio speed control, male or female voice, text size control, and byte spacing.

Ebook Central

  • Accessibility
  • Patrons may turn on accessibility mode themselves with their screen reader – no librarian or tech support needed. For patrons who do not use screen readers, their administrator may ask for accessibility mode to be turned on via the Contact Us web form.
