When your thesis has been approved and evaluated by the Faculty Council, upload your thesis to Lauda, the University of Lapland's institutional repository.

Convert your thesis to PDF/A, which is suitable for archives and long-term preservation, before uploading it to Lauda. You can convert your work for example using Adobe Acrobat Pro and Microsoft Word. Below are instructions for both programs.
Microsoft Word
3. Select Options
4. Select option Create PDF/A-1a:2005 compliant file). Click OK. Save PDF and upload to Lauda.
Adobe Acrobat Pro DC
2. Name your File: lastname_firstname, e.g. "Candidate_Clark" using only standard letter and numbers: 1-9, a-z, A-Z, _, -
3. Save PFD
3. Click "Submit a new item to this collection"
Fill in all the necessary information. Fields that are marked with an asterisk are required.
The thesis you submitted is now under review in the library. You will receive an email notification when your thesis is accepted to Lauda or if there is any problems processing it. Your thesis will appear in Lauda when accepted. The content of Lauda is also visible in LUC-Finna.

Access level and Restrictions
When you submit your thesis, you also allow your thesis to be read, browsed and printed without compensation. Options for access level are open network (openAccess) or restricted collection only on premises of the university library.
A thesis submitted to the University of Lapland must include an abstract. For the sake of consistency, write it in the following format.
Content of the abstract form:
1. Title of the work
2. Author(s)
3. Degree programme / teaching programme [TA1] / subject
4. Type of work (thesis, laudatur work[TA2] , licentiate thesis, written work)
5. Number of pages and appendices
6. Year - term and year when the work was submitted to the university (autumn/spring)
7. Abstract
- a short, clear account of the content of your thesis (max. 250 words)
- contains all the conclusions and new information
- presents the purpose, methods, results, and conclusions of the work
- organized as the thesis that it depicts
- does not exceed one A4-sized page, organized into paragraphs (SFS 3855)
- further instructions provided by the faculties
8. Keywords
- the author lists 3–6 keywords (e.g. the topics and themes, research methods, conclusions, results, and the related context or discipline)
LUC-Finna contains information on all the printed and e-theses.
The theses are in print format up to 2011. As of 2014, all the approved theses are as full texts.
