Mendeley guide

How to save references to your own Mendeley Library?

You can save references from the databases on multiple ways::

  1. Choose Add new to transfer PDFs from your computer directly to Mendeley Library. Mendeley will automatically search for references and save them and the PDF to your library.
  2. Web Importer is usually easiest way to transfer from the databases. Open the information page of the article that you want to save and click Mendeley Web Importer logo on your browser. Choose the reference you want to add and add it. If the pdf is available it will transfer too. (e.g. Ebsco, ProQuest, LUC-Finna).
  3. Choose RIS format to export and Add new to Mendeley Library. This method works in most of the databases (Luc-Finna, Finna.fi, Leisure Tourism, etc) and also transferring references from other Reference Manager (e.g. RefWorks).
  4. In the Mendeley search you can choose and add the references that other users have already saved to your own Mendeley Library.
  5. Direct transfer in Scopus: Export-> Save to Mendeley
  6. You can also add new reference by hand if needed. (For example, Westlaw, Bloomsbury): Add new -> Add entry manually

PLEASE, remember to check that all the information have transferred to the Mendeley Library correctly. There may be some information missing that you can add by hand.
