The Lapland University Consortium Library offers an extensive collection of printed and electronic materials to support teaching. The collections and databases used by the University of Lapland and Lapland UAS are slightly different, with an emphasis on the universities' own fields of education and research.
Information about the library's collections can be found in LUC-Finna. By logging in to LUC-Finna with the credentials of your own institution, you will also have access to the e-resources. The collections of other Finnish libraries can be searched in the national Finna.
It is also possible to order materials from the National Repository Library, make interlibrary loans from domestic and foreign libraries, and, for example, order archive materials from the National Archives. For more information, please visit the library's website.
The library acquires the course literature and study materials included in the degree requirements. The person in charge of the study module is responsible for reporting course books to the library. Once the decision on the new curriculum has been made, the library needs information about the course literature as soon as possible.
Request the purchase of course books using the intranet form. Search intranet for 'Acquisition of course books and study materials'. You must also inform the Library when course books or older editions are removed from the course requirements. This is done with the same form.
One copy of course books is acquired for each three simultaneous participants of the course or exam, but no more than 30 pieces. We primarily order an e-book as a course book, if one is available under terms of use suitable for organizational use. If the book is alternative to another work, fewer copies will be purchased. A few copies of supplementary literature will be acquired. Pleas note, that it might take several weeks, even months, to receive printed books.
Please contact hankinta.kirjasto[at]ulapland.fi
The library acquires e-resources both through the national FinELib consortium and directly from the suppliers. In general, use is permitted for teaching, study and research purposes. The resources may not be used for commercial purposes. Entire works may also not be printed or copied, but they can be linked to e.g. an online learning environment. Permissions to use the materials are defined in the license agreements.
Please note that the Kopiosto copying license does not apply to recourses acquired under license agreements.
E-books are available through e-book platforms provided by publishers. Usage features and rights vary by publisher.
When linking e-recourses (book or article) to your online course or materials, use a permanent identifier (DOI, Handle, URN) whenever possible, instead of a URL.
The address of the licensed e-resources must always include the address of the remote access or proxy server. In this case, the link will automatically open the HAKA login window and students will also be able to use the recourses from outside the university network.
If you make links remotely from outside the university/UAS network, you do not need to add the address of the library's proxy server separately, but it is already included in it.
You can link specific books, articles, databases, search results and favorites and share them directly from LUC Finna in different ways.
Open the recourses information from the search results and:
In the mobile view, the sharing options are at the bottom of the view.
Copy the address of the search results from the address bar.
